JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • It is the responsibility of every Health team member to deliver the most remarkable patient experience in every dimension, every time.
  • The primary role of the Medical Receptionist is to provide reception and clerical services.
  • These services may include billing, collections, referrals, appointments, patient contact, and general admin duties.
  • Greet patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner
  • The successful team member has a commitment to leveraging diversity and inclusion in support of quality care.
  • Serves patients by greeting and helping them, scheduling appointments, and maintaining records and accounts.
  • Keeps patient appointments on schedule by notifying providers of patient’s arrival, reviewing service delivery compared to schedule, and reminding providers of service delays.
  • Comforts patients by anticipating patients’ anxieties, answering patients’ questions, and maintaining the reception area.
  • Ensures availability of treatment information by filing and retrieving patient records.
  • Maintains patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information.
  • Obtains revenue by recording and updating financial information, recording and collecting patient charges, controlling credit extended to patients, and filing, collecting, and expediting third-party claims.
  • Maintains business office inventory and equipment by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies, verifying receipt of supplies, and scheduling equipment service and repairs.
  • Helps patients in distress by responding to emergencies.
  • Protects patients’ rights by maintaining the confidentiality of medical, personal, and financial information.
  • Maintains operations by following policies and procedures, reporting needed changes.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Health team members are responsible for fostering a safe patient environment driven by the principles of “First Do No Harm”.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • At least 1-year relevant experience in Clinic / Hospital.
  • A secondary School Diploma is a must, University Degree or Diploma in Administration is desirable.
  • Knowledge of office administrator responsibilities, systems, and procedures
  • Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel and MS Outlook, in particular)
  • Hands-on experience with office machines
  • Familiarity with email scheduling tools, like Email Scheduler
  • CPR certification a plus.
